This image shows the start of The Narrows, one of the most iconic hikes in Zion National Park. The Narrows is located at the end of the Riverside Walk trail, a paved one-mile hike which begins at the Temple of Sinawava. This hike is a unique experience, walking in the Virgin River through this narrow slot canyon, which I hiked for about a mile. The water in late April was cold, flowed fast and the rocks were slippery. The water depth ranged from about 6 inches to just above my waist. The river flows between these towering canyon walls, reaching heights of up to 1,500 feet. At its narrowest point, the canyon is only 20-30 feet wide, creating a dramatic and picturesque setting.
